[As promised, the day after that fun experience, Achilles walks to the lounge and takes a seat on one of the couches. He's looking over at the wall, brow furrowed in intense scrutiny. His eyes sweep over the rest of the room as well, and he'll continue doing this until he hears footsteps approaching.]
[ He pauses upon seeing who is there in the lounge, not necessarily about to turn around from what is a clearly obvious group space. Just giving the other man a moment to collect himself. ]
Am I interrupting? I can find another location to go.
I couldn't say. My world is mostly filled with magic and supernatural creatures, rather than technology. Only humans tend to make advancements in other ways, and they don't quite make up half the world yet.
[ So he doesn't know what a "new age" might be on a planet someone else came from. Ritsu spoke of Artificial Intelligence, and he's certainly never heard of that before.
A thoughtful hum. ]
I believe I saw a small sheltered area out on the deck, near the bow. It looked like a small space, away from all the other main common areas.
[ Magni will lead the way to the location he found at that request. ]
Most everything I know if is powered by steam or magic of some sort. Devices that fly, that can help humans fight against stronger opponents, large transports capable of carrying heavy products such as building supplies. I've even had a device that could put written words into spoken language, for those incapable of speech.
[ A hum. ]
Humans are quite inventive on Ielea, I've found. Though most other races tend to avoid any kind of technology. Preferring to rely on nature, skill, and their own magic.
Remarkable... We had no such things from when I was alive. Certainly, some of magic. Of people other than humans who seemed much like what you just described. But... powered by steam...
[He mulls that over.]
Well, I wouldn't have much of the faintest as to how that all might work. Never was any sort of crafter, myself— though... I wouldn't mind picking up a hobby like that, sometime.
Humans tend to lean into technology the most, as many are incapable of using magic or prefer a different method. What is your world like?
[ A soft laugh. ]
Sometimes the skills I picked up were something that would help me eventually. Sewing to mend clothes, cooking and hunting in order to eat, gardening to tend a farm field. If you want to learn any, I wouldn't mind teaching - when we're able.
I think we have an unfortunate lack of the weapons you mentioned, but I would be interested in you helping me teach Survivor how to fight against a spear weapon.
Is there? [Achilles wouldn't know and couldn't begin to imagine it. Night has always been a time of darkness. . . well, except for in the Underworld, where one really had almost no sense of time at all.
Also, it's still damn cold out here, and Achilles can't help but reflexively wrap his arms around himself.]
Hmm... Depending on how valuable tokens end up being, we may be able to arrange something.
[He lets a breath out once they're inside, rubbing his arms.]
I've dealt with winters, but nothing quite like this.
Too many lights gathered dim the night sky and stars above. [ There aren't a lot of places like that in his world, mostly large human cities.
He makes quick, but careful steps across the deck to the slightly secluded space. Perhaps the weather being one reason people won't come out here much. ]
I feel it's better to save them for things we may not even realize we can buy yet. Such as I would like to eventually fully purchase being able to touch my love again.
[ Which, Soldier despises the need to purchase such a thing, but he would do it.
He takes a seat on the u-shaped couch, taking in what warmth there is to be had from the furniture. ]
Agreed, though I'm typically immune to feeling such extreme highs and lows of temperature.
Ah... I can't even fathom how powerful those lights must be.
[To be even able to dim the night sky...]
I hope you're able to do that soon, as well. There's definitely a balance to strike between being cautious in our spending, and always waiting for something more.
While that is true, it would also work in our favor to befriend the staff so that the prices are lower. The more they like us, the more likely are to give us a bargain. It's a bit like haggling.
[ Just a motion to himself. ]
It's part of what I am. I'm not human, though not yet comfortable sharing that information.

Date: 2021-11-09 03:34 am (UTC)Anything such as? How the rooms seem to change appearance every time I look at them?
[ Unlike the other ship, there are things that are always changing here. A curious feature indeed. ]
What sort of privacy were you considering? The cabins are off-limits for private gatherings and we're currently the only ones here.

He gets to a stand.]
It doesn't need to be anything too secluded. Something that's simply not in the common walk path.
[If anyone decided to go to and from their room. Mostly so that they won't be disturbing anyone and vise versa.]

What sort of things are you familiar with? [Was he just as lost as Achilles or did he at least have some better understanding?
And to the suggestion, he gives a nod.]
Lead the way.

They do all sound quite useful. I know some of hunting, at least.
Perhaps I could teach you something in turn. Hm... did any of the weapons I mentioned having a proficiency with interest you?
